These burger patties have been tried, tested, and remain the favourite in my household. They are juicy, fully of flavour and very easy to make. This burger patty recipe can be cooked on the BBQ or in a hot pan on the stove-top. These patties are great with my Hawaiian-Curry Fusion Burger!
Burgers are a classic, easy and versatile food. I will outline how to make the patty in this post, but building the burger can be up to you (or check out my other complete burger recipes using this burger patty recipe).
Topping ideas Two Compliment These Burger Patties
You can top your burger with almost anything your imagination will allow. Classic burger toppings include:
- Cheddar Cheese
- Mozzarella Cheese
- Sautéd Onions
- Fried Mushrooms
- Bacon
- Onion rings
- Fried/Fresh Pineapple
- Lettuce
- Tomato
- Pickles (bread and butter pickles are the best on burgers)
- Sauces (BBQ, mayo, aioli, ketchup, mustard etc)
Buns for Burgers
While this burger patty recipe is fantastic, however it is only a part of the burger meal that you will serve. A burger bun can make-or-break your meal. Below is a suggestion of delicious burger buns to serve with these patties:
- Brioche Buns (my favourite bun for burgers)
- Plain Buns
- Preztel Buns
- Potato Buns
- Kaiser Buns
Cooking Tips
In addition to a good bun, burger patties need to be cooked on an already hot surface to ensure they don’t break apart and are cooked through evenly. Cooking burger patties on a hot surface also ensures they remain juicy inside and not dried out. Preheat your grill, BBQ or skillet to ensure it is hot. I find the best temperature range is between 375º and 400º Fahrenheit.
If you’re making thicker burgers, obviously the cooking time will increase. The cooking times I list below are for thinner burger patties (1/4 pound). However, if you want a thicker burger patty (about 1/3 pound), you will need to add 2-3 minutes per side to the cooking times.
